On Saturday, Carrie and I sat down to submit our Amazing Race Canada application. Everything was going along smoothly until the very last task, which was to upload our application video. We watched as the video uploaded and when it was done, it said, "Upload Complete", but then right below that it said, "Upload Failed". What?! Wait a minute! We double checked the sizing, and our video and photos were less than the 80MB limit. We opened a new application window and tried uploading the video again, and still no luck. We sent a message to the casting team and then decided to wait until today to look into it again (the deadline is February 28th).
I went on the CTV Facebook page today and discovered that many other people were having the same issues. Clearly, this was a problem on their end and not on our end. On the Facebook page I also discovered a different e-mail address and sent an additional e-mail, but was disappointed when I got the generic auto-response. The e-mail basically listed all the things we needed to show in our application and that due to the large number of applications they couldn't respond to us. Great! Now what do we do?
Thankfully, a few hours later I received another e-mail from the casting team telling us what to do. They told us that we should upload our video to YouTube and then include the link in our bio. (***See additional note below). Carrie and I were not planning on showing many people our video until we knew if we made it on the show, but now that it is on YouTube, we thought we might as well go for it!

I can't believe that we did it! When I first thought about trying out for the show, I sort of thought that it wouldn't really come to fruition. I am absolutely thrilled with how the video turned out! Carrie and I were just going to put up a camera and film ourselves talking and maybe add a few running shots, too. Then we got the idea to ask our friend Stephen if he would consider helping us out and he agreed. The process of making the video was so much fun and Stephen did a phenomenal job! A HUGE thank you to Stephen for making this kick-ass video for us! Thank you also to Carrie's brother Karl, who made the music for the video.
Whether we get on the show or not, this whole experience has been fantastic and we have a really cool video to show-off!
Yahooo!!!!!!! I am soo excited!
Prayers, positive thoughts, crossed fingers and toes are all welcome!

* once your application upload is complete, send an email to

I thanked Stephen and Karl above, but there were other people who helped to make this video. There was Lindsay, the camera operator, who was a lot of fun to work with! There was also an editor involved, but I don't know their name! Thanks again to all who helped make this video!

You are going to eat all the gross things - that's a joke right? I'll sure enjoy that episode!
